My personal feeling is that the browser version of Anki is better if data and network access aren't a problem and if you aren't making cards on the go. AnkiDroid makes card-making more tenable, but in my experience it's still a bit arduous compared to the desktop version, though I must say the fault lies entirely with the use of an Android portable device and not at all with the application.

A huge advantage this app has over AnkiApp is that it lets you sync to your AnkiWeb account. So now i can make cards on my desktop on the fly and sync it right with the app which is great.
Not only is this app very responsive and feature rich, but one thing also really pleasantly surprised me: My custom deck that uses the Migaku MIA Japanese plugin on my desktop works flawlessly. This cannot be a coincidence. They must have intentionally coded this functionality in. As such, the furigana and pitch accent highlighting are perfect, even the fonts are preserved.

This is not just a regular flashcard app. All of the other flashcard apps out there may have a few small functions like cloze deletions or audio support. It has images, audio, cloze deletions, language, autosync, keyboard shortcuts for those of us who like to use a keyboard with the iphone , LaTeX support which is imperative for ppl studying anything mathematically related , addons that give you the ability to automatically insert language audio AwesomeTTS , addons that let you automatically generate pinyin for Chinese characters, addons that let you modify any and every part of your anki experience.
By Escoce. I have been using Anki and AnkiMobile for 9 months now. First off it has a huge learning curve, but that is typical for any application that puts any real power in the hands of the user. Anki does exactly as advertised. I am not going to explain what that is, but all the 1 star reviews almost exclusively demonstrate the user did not read the manual or expected Anki to be a stay on the rails single faceted type of learning app.
The only thing I would have changed, and I DID recommend it on the support board, is to move deck ordering option to deck options rather than it being a global setting. I have decks I want to see new cards first and other decks I want to see new cards after reviews. That limitation however does not warrant knocking down a star. So 5 stars more. Wasn't too sure at first about purchasing, but the app is definitely worth it as it increases time you can spend studying. I did wish it had more editing options but otherwise it's great. The UI could be a little prettier, but it grows on you eventually. Definitely get this app if you spend parts of your day idling on a bus, in a subway, away from your computer, etc.

The picture and audio on flashcards shows up and works great on the phone so far. I like how easy it is to edit a flashcards on mobile if you want to change something. The design is simple and that is a truly good thing in my opinion. It reminds me of the 90s, not only the design but making a one time payment for a good program. When first setting up a second device, I was asked a few times if I wanted to overwrite the Anki on my device or the Anki on my cloud, and I had to do this a few times on the desktop version.

Horrifyingly Slow Sync Nov 1, By Oji John. Bottom line: Anki works great on a Win 10 PC. My advice: Use Anki on a desktop computer until sync problems are solved. I bulk loaded into a Master deck kanji cards using a custom designed template which works beautifully on a PC. Created a small filtered deck notes and imported that into a separate profile.
On an iPad I attempted to sync that profile which contains only the small subset of the Master deck. The sync process behaves as if it needs to examine each of the cards in the Master deck. The sync process is so slow and so gums up my network that I find the app unusable. Anki on a Win 10 PC is problematic for the simple reason that one is unable to redirect the media folder. Today, I finished all of my decks for the day on the desktop version. When I signed into the app and synced, it said I had 20 new cards for each deck and pushed that information to AnkiWeb.

I contacted Brainscape during beta letting them know there was a serious bug not allowing the app to open.
It opens and crashes. They wrote back and said that they are aware of it and are waiting for Apple to approve their update, but honestly this should have been taken care of weeks ago!

Once I do get it to work some of the most important features have been eliminated. For example, reverse testing is a must for language learning. You need to test for the vocabulary both ways. The card formatting is all screwed-up with words that were formerly in lists now just running together. In the old version it would run through the card stack in order. I contacted the owner with regards to the errors but I did not hear back. The app is helpful if you have the Oncology Nutrition book and can check the answers for accuracy, since all the questions are from the book. I would have liked to be able to make a note to myself on the flashcards noting the correct answers but there is no option to make notes.

You have to jump through a bunch of hoops to import the right file type, encoding, and format. If you want to add a card it goes to the bottom of the deck. This is terrible when you want to organize an outline and you forget to add a card. You would have to copy cards, create a new deck, delete the cards in the original deck, paste cards from the new deck into the original deck Ughh Imagine wanting to add several new cards.
You are forced to use their spaced repetition algorithm. You can browse on your mobile device but not your pc.
